Proxy servers is when you give permission to take your place or do somthing for you.
the proxy server is set up by a systems administrator as a gateway between trusted and non trusted networks.
Proxy Servers can be used in different ways. They can be used to restrict user access to web sites, http://www.ciao.co.uk/Servers_5220770_4-proxy_server sometimes the proxy server are included in the security suites. i would go with this as seperate proxy servers can cost a lot of money.
